Schubdüse die Erste

Die "Schubdüse die Erste" gestern Nacht war ein Event ganz nach meinem Geschmack, genau meine Kragenweite: Musik, Kunst, Designmarkt, Live Art Performance, Kunst zum mitmachen, Drinks and Food, Grill and Chill. Das Gebäude am Ostquai war ein toller Rahmen für diese Art von Veranstaltung.

Last nights event "Schubdüse die Erste" was right up my alley: music, art, design fair, live art performance, join-in-art, drinks, food, barbecue, chill out. The building at the ostquai was a fine setting for this kind of event.

Im Bereich Designmarkt war ich aktiv vertreten. Meine Standnachbarin war Michele von Stein-Schmuckdesign, die wie ich Mitglied im Etsy Germany Street Team ist. Wir haben uns gestern zum ersten Mal getroffen, aber sicher nicht zum letzten Mal. Auf ihrem Blog gibt's noch mehr Fotos zu sehen, vor allem bessere. Sie hatte nämlich ihre Kamera dabei. Ich habe sie vergessen und musste mit meinem Handy fotografieren, das merkwürdigerweise die Fotos teilweise "verloren" hat.

I took actively part in the design area. My neighbour was Michele of Stein-Schmuckdesign who also is a member of Etsy Germany Street Team, just like me. We met for the first time, but certainly not for the last time. There are more and better pics on her blog. She had her camera with her, while I had forgotten mine. So I had to take images with my cell phone which strangely "lost" part of them.


Sehr toll war, dass man einigen Künstlern auf die Finger schauen konnte.
I found it particularly great that you could watch some artists showing off their craft.


Joe Ferraro ist Künstler in vielen Bereichen. An der Schubdüse stellte er seine Kollektion Feathery & Flashy Jewelry vor, die er im Marktbereich verkaufte. Gestern zeigte er, wie feathery und flashy Make-up aussehen kann. Im Kunstbereich war er ausserdem mit Zeichnungen vertreten.

Joe Ferraro is an Artist with many talents. At the Schubdüse he introduced his collection of Feathery & Flashy Jewelry that he sold in the market area. Yesterday he showed what feathery and flashy make-up can look like. Above that his drawings were featured in the art area of the event.


Lucia Zbinden ist Glasbläserin. Sie stellt Schmuck her unter dem Namen CreaLuz . Ihre spanischen Wurzeln hört man hier heraus. Sie arbeitet aber auch mit anderen Künstlern zusammen. Sie hat z.B. die Glasperlen für Joe Ferraro's Schmuck geliefert.

Lucia Zbinden is a glasblower. She creates jewelry under the name CreaLuz which referes to her spanish roots. She also cooperates with other artists. She made the glas pearls for Joe Ferraro's jewelry.

Benjamin Meier stellt Kartonleuchten her. Und genau so heisst seine Firma: kartonleuchten
Jede Leuchte wird aus einem einzigen Stück Karton hergestellt, wobei kaum Abfall entsteht. Wie das geht zeigte er direkt am Markt, was auf grosses Interess stiess.

Benjamin Meier manufactures cardboard lamps made of corrugated board. The name of his company is simply: kartonleuchten. Each lamp is made from one single cardboard box only. At the market he demonstrated how this works and he found many people's interest.


Hier entsteht Kunst! Timo Martignier und Christian Robles haben dieses Bild zusammen geschaffen, das später in der Gallerie (s. Fotos unten) ausgestellt wurde. Leinwand ist normalerweise nicht ihr Metier. Sie machen beide Street Art.

This is becoming art! Timo Martignier and Christian Robles created this picture together. Later on it was exhibited in the gallery (see fotos below). Canvas is normally not their matter, for they are both street artists.



Die Kunst wurde wortwörtlich in der Galerie ausgestellt - oder auf der Gallerie? Beides trifft zu, weil es eine balkonartige Galerie gibt, die oberhalb des Konzertraumes verläuft.

The art was exhibeted in the gallery - or rather on the galery? Both is correct, 'cause there is this gallery above the room where the bands played.

Wie z.B. diese hier. Die Dame in der Mitte ist Dascha, eine der OrganisatorInnen. Kurz danach arbeitete sie schon wieder an der Bar. Dass sie nicht auch noch gleichzeitig ihre Taschen im Designbereich verkaufen konnte, ist klar. Da wurde sie von einer Freundin vertreten.

Just like this one here. The lady in the middle is Dascha, one of the organisers. Shortly afterwards she was working behind the bar again. Of course she wasn't able to sell her bags in the design area at the same time. A friend helped her out.

Wer Basel kennt, weiss, dass die Location am Ostquai sehr weit draussen liegt. Und wer die Basler kennt, weiss, dass ihnen der Weg oft zu weit ist. Vor allem bei so gemischtem Wetter wie gestern. Entgegen unseren Befürchtungen haben doch viele Leute den Weg gefunden...

If you know Basel, you know the location at the ostquai being a bit outlying. If you know the people of Basel, you know they don't like long ways off. Especially with unsettled weather like yesterday. Though we were all worried, quiet a lot of people found their ways to the event....
